This Rotel amp is an AC-coupled design, similar to say Adcom of the same period. The Rotel RB-960BX uses a 10µF/50V Rubycon electrolytic cap, shunted to ground with a 27.4k resistor. The amps DC-blocking filter has a response of –3dB at around half a hertz. It has very well constructed dual-mono power supplies;, each channel having its own large power transformer and two 10,000µF/50V Reservoir Capacitors, one pair for each 47 VDC power-supply rail. The Rotel sports a triple-Darlington complementary push-pull output stage, with two pairs of bipolar output devices per channel.
If you buy two, the Rotel is bridgeable to mono configuration by configuring a switch on the back panel. In bridge mode, it's rated at 180W into 8 ohms! Quite a difference. The sound is musical and pleasant throughout the overall range.
