Condition: This unit has a very substantial platter and heavy plinth base, about 18 lbs. Dust Cover is in relatively good condition with only very light scratching, overall a nice table treated with respect for the last 45 years.
About the Unit: This unit was a direct competitor to Pioneer's highly successful PL-510 but offered value added features including semi auto; reject or stop, and auto return, for a similar price. The build quality is very apparent. Sony's unique platter mat with air-filled pads to dampen the record's vibration, first appeared on the PS-3300.
Other Features include (per Sony marketing) a DC-Servo BSL motor, X-Tal Lock + "Magnedisc" (speed control) with a brushless direct-drive, DC servo motor. The speed monitoring system which was an electronic process using an 8-pole magnetic pick-up head, with a pulse coated platter rim.
