The original case (red) foam has long since broken down, but it was replaced years ago. The Shure SM7 is a professional cardioid dynamic microphone, commonly used in on air, broadcasting applications since 1973. It is perfect for podcasters, streamers, and vocalists. Designed by Shure, it has been described as an "iconic" industry standard microphone for its focused, directional sound and its widespread adoption in radio, television and recording studios. Some folks refer to the SM7 was the microphone type utilized for the Michael Jackson's Thriller album.
